What is TSER?
TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected) is the share of all solar energy the film keeps out of the cabin. The higher it is, the more solar heat is blocked. In 3M’s specification Crystalline reaches a TSER of up to 64% and Ceramic Absolute has 60-64%.
What is IRR?
IRR (Infrared Rejection) is the share of infrared radiation the film keeps out; infrared is the part of sunlight that carries heat. In 3M’s specification Crystalline has an IRR of 97-98% and Ceramic Absolute has 72-81%.
What is VLT, and how is it different from TSER?
VLT (Visible Light Transmission) is the share of visible light that passes through the film; the lower it is, the darker the glass. TSER measures the solar energy the film keeps out. The two figures measure different things. Ask the shop for the VLT of the shade you are considering.
What does the UV figure in the table mean?
It is the share of ultraviolet radiation the film keeps out. In 3M’s specification the series that state this figure range from 98% to 99.9%, and Crystalline is at 99.9%.
How is Crystalline different from the ceramic films?
Crystalline is a premium series built on multilayer optical film of more than 200 layers, with no metal. It has a TSER of up to 64%, an IRR of 97-98% and a UV figure of 99.9%. Ceramic Ultra Clear (CM-IR) and Ceramic Absolute (AS) use nano-ceramic; CM-IR has an IRR of 78-95% and AS has 72-81%.
Which shades does each series come in?
Crystalline and Crystalline Black come in 15, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70. Ceramic Ultra Clear comes in 5, 15, 25, 35, 50 and 70. Ceramic Absolute, Ceramic S-Edition, CM Plus, Smart Plus and Ceramate come in 5, 15 and 35.
How long is 3M window film under warranty?
This is the manufacturer’s product warranty: Crystalline Black carries 10 years; Ceramic Prestige carries 8 years; Ceramic Absolute, Ceramic S-Edition, Ceramic Ultra Clear, CM Plus, Crystalline and Smart Plus carry 7 years; Ceramate carries 5 years. The shop’s own conditions on site are a separate matter.
Which series are sold through a specific channel, and which does not interfere with signals?
In 3M’s specification Ceramic S-Edition (IM/SE) is sold through car showrooms only, and CM Plus (CM+) through dealers and retail. CM Plus does not interfere with signals. Crystalline is a film with no metal in it.
